Our Club
Inspired by a vision for a broad based community team, celebrating cultural diversity and sporting passion through football, Melbourne Heart FC was established in 2009.
Drawing a link between past, present and future, the Heart’s founders aimed to develop a club truly representative of the wider Victorian football public, hoping to build an identity and guiding philosophy future generations will identify as the beating heart of Melbourne’s newest team.
Their ambition was reflected in the appointment of Chief Executive Officer Scott Munn, an experienced sports administrator who shared the dream of launching a fresh club in the city fast becoming the football capital of Australia.
Our Values
Melbourne Heart FC is committed to meeting the highest standards of professionalism on and off the park, while remaining faithful to the grassroots community and using its resources and coaching expertise to boost the game at a local level.
The Club's commitment to these core values have been demonstrated through the launch of the Westpac Community Football Festival, with the club set to host a series of clinics, events and friendly matches in Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland.
The event will also feature Melbourne Heart FC’s ‘Coach the Coach’ program, where Head Coach John van ‘t Schip will educate local football clubs on the latest tactical and technical innovations in the game.
The Westpac Community Football Festival will then encompass six different regional centres in 2011 and 2012, ensuring the Heart can engage with a wider cross-section of Victorian society.
Our Team
Making its Hyundai A-League debut later this year, Melbourne Heart FC has appointed former Dutch international John van ‘t Schip as Head Coach, underlining the club’s aspiration of developing into a multi-faceted football institution.
Bringing a wealth of experience, the ex-Ajax star espouses the virtues of a holistic approach to football, promoting a technical brand of the game while working to develop the next generation of Australian talent.
Van ‘t Schip will be assisted by fellow internationals Jesper Olsen and Ante Milicic, former stars of the game who played in leagues across three continents, working to lay the foundations of a legacy which will endure and thrive into the future.
